I grew up in a large family, and with my father being in the Air Force, we were transferred quite often. Having lived in Alaska, Oklahoma and Texas, we settled back home in Crawford County when I was in the eight grade. I graduated from Robinson High School in 1976 as class Valedictorian, and then obtained my Associates Degree from Lincoln Trail College.
In 1978 I began full time employment in the Insurance business selling Life insurance, Annuities, IRA's and Medical insurance. In 1988 I obtained my Property and Casualty License and began selling auto, home, farm and business insurance. Throughout my career I have had extensive sales, sales management and insurance product training. Over the years I have focused more on life insurance, medical insurance, IRA and retirement planning. Through my 2014 sales efforts I was awarded membership in the Million Dollar Round Table.
In 1977 I married my high school sweetheart Darla (Shaffar). We have two sons Dan and Braden and a granddaughter Madison. As fun as it was coaching my boys in baseball and Braden in Junior League football, having a granddaughter can't be beat. Darla says I have too many hobbies for the limited time I have to participate in them, but I do enjoy deer and turkey hunting, as well as fishing, especially chasing walleye, smallmouth and northern pike in Canada. My real joy though is playing guitar and singing. I play guitar and lead worship at Robinson Free Methodist Church.
My insurance career has been very rewarding although the often long hours are sometimes a challenge, but I enjoy helping my clients with their financial and insurance needs. It is rewarding to see my business grow and my sons learning the business from me. Life is full of challenges and opportunities. God is faithful and He has blessed.
